The following rules and regulations are applicable to all government recognized/ aided/unaided/permanently unaided colleges, including minority colleges and can be amended/deleted by the State Government or any other regulatory body from time to time.

1. N.C.T.E.

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is a statutory body of Indian Government set up in 1995 under the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993 to formally oversee standards, procedures and processes in the Indian Education System.

2. GOVERNMENT

Department of School Education and Sports of Government of Maharashtra is the governing department which is the administrative and financial head.

3. DIRECTORATE, MAHARASHTRA VIDYA PRADHIKARAN PUNE

It means Directorate of Maharashtra Vidya  Pradhikaran in School Education and Sports.

4. MAHARASHTRA STATE EXAMINATION COUNCIL

It conducts examinations and awards result.

5. RECOGNISED EDUCATION COLLEGE

All teachers training colleges, i.e., government/private aided/ unaided/minority/non-minority colleges recognised by N.C.T.E. are under Directorate of Vidya Pradhikaran Pune are treated as recognised colleges to provide Diploma in Education.

St. John’s Teacher Training School is recognised by the above bodies as Permanently Unaided Linguistic (Gujarati) Minority Institution.

6. AIDED/GRANTED INSTITUTIONS

Government provides all kinds of aid to the institution.

7. UNAIDED, PERMANENT UNAIDED

These institutions do not receive any kind of aid from the Government.

8. RECOGNISED INSTITUTIONS

This institution is registered according to the Institutions Registration Act 1860 and Mumbai Public Commission Act 1950 and is recognized by N.C.T.E.

9. MINORITY INSTITUTION

The Government of Maharashtra  recognised the institution as linguistic and/or religious minority institution.

10.   DIPLOMA IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION (D.El.Ed.)

Diploma in Elementary Education can be pursued after HSC pass/12th pass from C.B.S.E./ I.C.S.E./National open school/other state committee board as well as Bhasharatna examination of Mumbai University/first years passed of graduation of YCMOU.

11.   PRE-SERVICE TRAINING

The training provided for required and ordained vocational qualification for being a primary teacher.

12.   CANDIDATE

The student who has acquired necessary qualification.

These rules are applied to all the colleges which are affiliated to N.C.T.E. recognised Directorate of Vidya Pradhikaran, Pune.
